Declaration on digital accessibility

The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial endeavours to make its website or mobile application accessible. The declaration on digital accessibility is required by the Berlin Act on Accessible Information and Communication Technology (BIKTG Bln). The technical requirements for accessibility are set out in BITV 2.0.

This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website www.stiftung-hsh.de.

How accessible is the website?

The verification of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment completed on 22 July 2024. Following this review, this website is largely accessible in accordance with WCAG 2.2, Level AA.

Which areas are not yet fully accessible?

Documents
Some PDF documents are currently not yet accessible. We are working on making all PDF files accessible in the future. If you require a specific PDF document as an accessible file, please contact us.

Video files
Not all video files currently have subtitles or transcriptions. YouTube offers the option of activating automatically generated subtitles, but these are not always correct in terms of content. We are currently revising the subtitles provided by YouTube so that all videos will be available with correct subtitles in future.

Feedback mechanism/report barriers

Would you like to report information on the implementation of accessibility or existing barriers? Are you unable to adequately perceive, use or understand something on our website? Do you need information in an accessible form? Then please let us know.

Accessibility explanation Ticket Shop

The Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial endeavours to make its Ticket Shop accessible.

Accessibility status

Our Ticket Shop endeavours to meet the accessibility requirements in accordance with the WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549 standards. Since November 2025, existing and new accessibility issues have been actively monitored and resolved.

Scope of the declaration

This declaration relates exclusively to the Ticket Shop.

Legal basis

The accessibility of our Ticket Shop is based on the international standards WCAG 2.1 (Level AA) and the requirements of EN 301 549.

Measures to improve accessibility

We use the following measures to ensure that the ticket shop is accessible to all users:

  • An internal tool carries out continuous audits to automatically recognise potential accessibility issues.
This is supplemented by manual checks by our team to ensure that more complex or context-specific issues are also resolved.

Identified accessibility issues

Despite our efforts, we are aware of the following accessibility issues:

  • Some buttons on the website do not yet have meaningful names or labels.
  • Some images do not contain an alt attribute.
  • Some drop-down menus (select elements) lack descriptive names or labels.

We are actively working to resolve these issues and thank you for your understanding.
