Opening of the memorial

The memorial will open its doors from Monday, May 4 after a closure of seven weeks. We invite all Berliners to learn more about the history of the place of detention in the permanent exhibition "Imprisoned in Hohenschönhausen". Please register at besucherdienst@stiftung-hsh.de or by telephone on 030 / 98 60 82 30 for your visit. There is a face mask obligation on the site of the memorial, we will gladly provide you with a mask.

Guided tours are not yet possible until further notice. We thank you for your understanding.

Fricke Karl Wilhelm Karl Wilhelm Fricke
The freelance journalist documented openly political persecution and injustice in the GDR in both press and radio in the 1950s. He was one of several hundred people who were abducted by the Ministry of State Security in West Berlin.
